Building The Joy of Reading and Writing at Taruwara

As a culmination of our coding class teachings, we're excited to extend the impact of our projects to a wider audience. And what better platform than Output Day? Our goal is to make strides in creativity and gather valuable feedback for future improvements leading up to the event. It's been a journey filled with learning and growth for all team members. Each had the opportunity to delve into the technical complexities of building not one, but two projects. We navigated through various coding languages and software, overcoming challenges with determination and perseverance. Our showcase features two thrilling projects: the "Rocket to The Moon Simulation" and the "Rollercoaster Simulation," each with its own unique characteristics. In the Rocket Simulation, guests are immersed in a story that makes them feel part of the journey. Meanwhile, the Rollercoaster Simulation promises to evoke the exhilaration and fear of riding a rollercoaster. Throughout the 13 weeks of preparation, we've experienced the joy of collaboration and creativity. With 80% of the projects developed by just four primary students, their ingenuity shines through every aspect. From brainstorming sessions to design iterations, witness how ideas transformed into immersive VR experiences. Guidance and final touches from our teachers, Pak Tude and Miss Giri, helped refine our creations. Central to our success is the students' involvement and commitment to teamwork. Samuel stepped up when needed, Kasy provided leadership, Charles offered valuable suggestions, and Haru's creativity fueled the projects. Ultimately, our aim is to ignite curiosity among our guests. For instance, the Rocket Simulation leaves them with unanswered questions, inviting them to ponder what's next: "Hello Human! Welcome to the Moon… to be continued." We start the first term of the Academic Year 2022-2023 by having projects inspired by students. The project itself is inspired by students playing house with cardboard and teachers pick up on that and expand the ideas for year-long projects. We decided to do camping and related this project to our school events and subjects. Hence the Bazaar Project, our school has its birthday in September and we start planning to contribute to the bazaar event by selling some stuff in order to raise some money for the camping. For the bazaar, students were divided into 3 different groups that will prepare their own stands. The groups are green stands, healthy food stands, and art stands. Students were doing mind maps from the beginning, so they know the connection between each subject and why they need to learn certain topics. Students were really involved from the beginning, during preparation, and on the day. They had a lot of discussions and made decisions themselves. We see a lot of beautiful collaboration between students during preparation and they work their hardest to make this event go smoothly.  Before the bazaar, students learned about measurement, time, and money. These topics are to equip students during the bazaar since some of them are in charge of being the cashier. In Science class, students learned about hygiene and healthy food. Students learned about it and built the menu themselves for the healthy food stand. In Art class, students had the chance to make something from clay and some made some drawings. Overall, students were very involved and excited to have the bazaar. We have had great support from parents during this event and almost everyone participates. For the Green stand, we had a big donation from one of our parents and it is one of the most successful stands. At the end of the bazaar, all stands were able to collect almost Rp. 3.000.000 to support our camping project. Students were really happy with the experience and they worked really hard to count the money themselves.  Next, we are going to prepare for our Camping project. Students may divide into 3 different groups according to the 5 main subjects we have, such as English, Science, Math, Art, and Thematic. They will learn all the necessary topics to support them during camping. We are excited to create great memories on our school grounds through this camping project! Stay tuned for our next project! On Friday, 24 October 2025, the school ground of Rumah Kecil and Taruwara filled with laughter, color, and community spirit as we celebrated two special milestones: Rumah Kecil’s 11th anniversary and Taruwara’s 5th anniversary. With the theme “Growing in Harmony, Thriving in Connection,” the event beautifully reflected how our families, children, and team grow stronger together each year. A Market Filled With Creativity, Collaboration, and Heart This year’s anniversary celebration took the form of a vibrant bazaar-style event that brought together students, teachers, and families. The enthusiasm from parents greatly exceeded our expectations—more than 150 tickets were sold, even though preparation time was short. Their support created an energetic, joyful atmosphere throughout the day. Parents contributed beautifully curated stalls, while our school kitchen booth served homemade food that sold out quickly. Our kindergarten students also proudly presented their Little Garden Café project, selling seeds, burritos, and handmade crafts from scrap paper. Taruwara Primary students showcased their learning through impressive project booths, including natural skincare, science booth, bird shelter booth, green projects, garden booth, arts exhibitions, school menu ideas, and more. Each booth reflected the children’s learning journey and their ability to apply knowledge creatively and responsibly. We also had a special collaboration booth with Smile Foundation, where our school donated as part of our anniversary contribution. This partnership added a meaningful social impact to our celebration, reminding everyone of the importance of giving back, and also became an opportunity to share kindness through donations. There was a touching singing moment that moved the audience, as well as fun dance performances that brought energy and excitement into the crowd. Throughout the event, families enjoyed playing games, creating clay crafts, exploring booths, and savoring food that sold out within hours. The atmosphere felt warm and genuine—parents celebrating their children, children laughing with friends and enjoying the event, and teachers proudly supporting every little moment. Events like this are more than celebrations; they are opportunities for families, teachers, and children to connect in meaningful ways. The laughter, creativity, and collective effort displayed throughout the day showed how powerful community support can be in shaping a positive learning environment. Moving forward, we hope to continue creating spaces where children feel encouraged to explore, families feel welcomed, and everyone feels they are part of something growing and meaningful.
